Manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Educational Sciences at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University undergo a series of editorial and peer-review stages as follows:
1. Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts to the Journal via email at Jes@psau.edu.sa, together with the required documents and forms approved by the Journal, including the Author Declaration Form.
2. Initial Technical Screening
The Journal’s Editorial Office verifies that the manuscript complies with the technical requirements and submission guidelines, including the similarity rate, font type and size, word count, and completion of all required documents. Once the manuscript passes this stage, it is assigned a reference number, and the author is notified by email.
3. Initial Scientific Screening
The manuscript is assigned to a member of the Editorial Board for an initial scientific assessment to evaluate its quality and originality and determine its alignment with the Journal’s scope, objectives, and publication guidelines.
4. Initial Screening Outcome
The Editorial Board member submits an initial screening report containing one of the following recommendations:
• Refer the manuscript for peer review.
• Request preliminary revisions from the author before proceeding with the peer-review process.
• Decline to proceed with the publication process.
The author is notified of the outcome by email.
5. Selection of Reviewers
Once the manuscript has passed the initial screening, the Journal selects two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area, in coordination between the Editorial Board member and the Journal’s Editorial Office.
6. Sending the Manuscript for Peer Review
Once the reviewers agree to undertake the review, they are provided with the manuscript and the Journal’s approved peer-review form.
7. Peer-Review Period
Reviewers are given two weeks from the date the manuscript is sent to complete their reviews. If the specified period is exceeded, the Journal’s Editorial Office sends a reminder to the reviewer.
8. Receipt of Peer-Review Reports
The Journal receives the reviewers’ reports, which may recommend acceptance without revisions, acceptance subject to revisions, or rejection of the manuscript.
9. Disagreement Between Reviewers
Where there is a substantial difference between the recommendations of the two reviewers, the manuscript may be referred to a third reviewer for an additional assessment.
10. Revisions
If the peer-review reports include comments or requested revisions, they are sent to the author for the necessary revisions. The revised manuscript must be returned to the Journal within a maximum of two weeks from the date the comments are sent, unless the Journal specifies a different deadline.
11. Final Assessment
Upon receipt of the revised manuscript, it is referred to a member of the Editorial Board for a final assessment to determine the extent to which the author has addressed the reviewers’ comments and completed the required revisions.
12. Final Assessor’s Recommendation
The final assessor submits a report to the Editor-in-Chief containing one of the following recommendations:
• Accept the manuscript for publication.
• Return the manuscript to the author for further revisions.
• Reject the manuscript if the required revisions have not been adequately addressed.
13. Final Decision
After the screening and peer-review procedures have been completed, a final decision is made regarding the manuscript, and the author is notified of the outcome by email. If the manuscript is accepted for publication, an acceptance certificate is issued to the author.
14. Scheduling for Publication
Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication according to the sequence and organizational procedures adopted by the Journal.
