The establishment of the College of Engineering in Wadi Al-Dawasir was driven by the growing number of secondary school graduates in Wadi Al-Dawasir and the surrounding governorates, as well as by the Kingdom’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and supporting the educational aspirations of local communities. The College was established to provide high-quality engineering education and to prepare highly qualified graduates who are capable of contributing effectively to national development and advancing scientific and technological progress at both the national and international levels.

The establishment of the College was also aligned with the directives of the Kingdom’s leadership to expand universities and colleges across various regions of Saudi Arabia, with the aim of accommodating the increasing number of general education graduates and reducing the pressure on existing higher education institutions.

Recognizing the Kingdom’s growing demand for qualified engineers and the need to provide greater access to higher education for students in Wadi Al-Dawasir and neighboring governorates, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University established the College of Engineering in Wadi Al-Dawasir as one of its affiliated colleges.

On 4/7/1430 AH, the Higher Education Council issued Resolution No. 3/1430 AH approving the establishment of Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, which included the College of Engineering in Wadi Al-Dawasir.

The College comprises six academic departments:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer and Network Engineering
  • Agricultural Engineering

Academic study at the College initially commenced through two main departments: Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. These departments offer specialized areas of study designed to provide students with diverse academic and professional pathways. Students select their areas of specialization based on their academic performance, interests, and preferences.

The College of Engineering at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University aspires to achieve excellence in engineering education by providing high-quality academic programs that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. The College is committed to utilizing modern educational technologies, advanced training methods, and state-of-the-art technical resources to provide an educational experience that meets international standards and is comparable to those offered by leading engineering schools worldwide.

Through its academic programs, the College seeks to prepare competent engineers equipped with the knowledge, technical skills, professional values, and innovative capabilities required to meet the evolving needs of the engineering profession and contribute effectively to the sustainable development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
