Director’s Message
Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University places great emphasis on the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud — may Allah preserve him — and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud — may Allah preserve him.
One of the key objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 is the transition toward a digital society and the development of digital infrastructure. This transformation requires a secure environment for information and technology assets through the adoption of international best practices in cybersecurity.
With the rapid acceleration of digital transformation, cyberattacks and information security risks have increased significantly. Accordingly, the University President issued a decision to restructure the University’s Cybersecurity Department on 28/04/1441 AH, corresponding to 25/12/2019, based on Royal Order No. 37140, dated 14/08/1438 AH, and in alignment with the Essential Cybersecurity Controls (ECC) issued by the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA).
To reduce cybersecurity risks to the information and technology assets of organizations, address emerging challenges, and protect against cyber threats, the National Cybersecurity Authority has developed a number of specialized cybersecurity controls, including:
- Essential Cybersecurity Controls (ECC)
- Cybersecurity Controls for Sensitive Systems
- Cybersecurity Controls for Telework
- Cybersecurity Controls for Social Media Accounts of Entities
- Cybersecurity Controls for Cloud Computing
- Cybersecurity Controls for Data
- Cybersecurity Controls for Operational Technology
Further details on these controls are available through the National Cybersecurity Authority’s website.
The Cybersecurity Department at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University strives to protect the University’s information and technology assets and foster a secure and trusted educational environment. This is achieved through the governance and implementation of relevant policies, controls, and regulations; the provision of supporting technical solutions; and the fulfillment of the core objectives for protecting the University’s information and technology assets: confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and information.
