Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University is making significant efforts to achieve its vision, mission, and strategic objectives amid ongoing changes and the ambitious vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This annual report highlights these efforts by presenting a summary of the University’s activities across various fields. It is intended to support evidence- and information-based decision-making in alignment with the University’s strategic direction and Saudi Vision 2030.
The report analyzes key performance indicators and presents the most notable activities and achievements accomplished during the reporting year in academic development, scientific research, community service, and digital transformation. It also reviews major local and international activities and conferences, partnerships and agreements, available opportunities and enabling factors, key challenges, and the support required. In addition, the report provides important data on human resources, the budget, revenues, and procurement contracts.
Among the report’s key findings are the University’s 24 performance indicators. With the grace of Allah and the University’s dedicated efforts, 17 indicators were fully achieved (71%), while five were partially achieved (21%). The University continues to diligently pursue all its objectives in line with future aspirations.
All Royal and High Orders and Council of Ministers resolutions were implemented at a rate of 100%. The University also targeted six quality-of-life projects, all of which were completed. Of the 16 administrative and technology projects targeted, 25% were completed. The University also targeted 16 construction, furnishing, and equipment projects, with a completion rate of 19%. In addition, three infrastructure projects remain underway and, with the will of Allah, will be completed during the coming period.
In the academic field, the University received full institutional accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation for the period from 2019 to 2026. A total of 35 academic programs also received program accreditation from various national and international bodies, representing an increase of 67% compared with the previous year. The University aims to secure program accreditation for all its academic programs in the coming period.
Modern technologies have contributed significantly to developing and improving many of the University’s academic, administrative, and financial procedures. During the reporting year, the University enhanced and upgraded more than 25 digital services and introduced approximately 20 new services aimed at streamlining administrative and financial procedures and improving their quality.
In human capital development, the number of scholarship students reached 324 during the reporting year, while 2,001 individuals received training, achieving 105% of the target.
The University places considerable emphasis on students’ holistic development. Accordingly, it delivered a range of specialized activities and diverse sports, cultural, scientific, social, and artistic programs during the reporting year. These activities aimed to instill and reinforce noble and national values, develop students’ personal skills, foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, and promote physical and mental well-being.
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Education, the University organized the Research, Development and Innovation Forum. The forum sought to enrich, support, and advance the research, development, and innovation ecosystem and increase its output in ways that contribute to economic growth and national prosperity.
In research and innovation, the University received three awards for innovation in military industries at the World Defense Show and won four bronze medals at the Geneva International Exhibition. During the reporting year, the University also ranked fifth among Saudi universities based on publication data indexed in both Web of Science and Scopus.
In pursuing these achievements, the University encountered several challenges, including limited specialized human resources, insufficient funding to complete and develop infrastructure, and the absence of a long-term plan for funding research and innovation at universities.
To address these challenges, the University proposed several measures, including establishing permanent positions across various administrative fields, developing a plan to strengthen funding strategies and ensure sustainable support for research and innovation at the University, and adopting regulations governing the creation of positions for researchers and research assistants.
