The Legal Department is considered one of the principal departments within the University, working collaboratively and in integration with other departments to achieve the University's objectives and mission. It also serves as the University's legal safeguard by providing legal consultations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, protecting the University's interests, and mitigating legal risks, thereby contributing to the enhancement of governance and supporting decision-making processes.
Leadership and excellence in promoting legal values, objectives, principles, rights, and obligations within the University, while safeguarding the University's rights across all fields.
- The Legal Department is responsible for a wide range of tasks and competencies, including organizing and consolidating legal matters within the University.
- Providing legal opinions on matters referred to it by authorized officials, vice deans, and various university departments.
- Reviewing regulations, agreements, and contracts.
- Studying the minutes of various councils and committees.
- Representing the University before judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, as well as any other entities.
- Preparing interpretative analyses and legal clarifications of regulations and bylaws.
- Taking legal actions to safeguard the University’s rights against individuals and entities.
- Conducting preliminary investigations and participating in investigations initiated by oversight bodies.
- Examining violations that may be attributed to University staff members.
- Performing any other tasks assigned to the Department within its scope of competence.
- Supervising other legal activities.
This department reports administratively to the Office of the President of the University and comprises three units as follows:

- Studies and Consultations Unit.
- Investigations Unit.
