It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University in Al-Kharj.
Electrical engineering is one of the pillars on which industrial and economic development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia rests, and a key contributor to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in energy security, digital transformation, and the localization of advanced technologies. With this in mind, the department works to provide a stimulating academic environment that combines rigorous scientific grounding with substantive practical application, graduating national talent qualified to meet the demands of the labor market and to contribute effectively to the engineering solutions our country needs.
The discipline encompasses a range of specialized branches, from electrical and renewable energy, control systems, and electrical machines, to communications, electronics, and signal processing. The electrical engineer's work extends to the design, construction, and maintenance of engineering facilities within their field, such as power generation plants, transmission lines, and distribution networks. It also covers the design and management of communications and electronic systems across their many applications, the diagnosis and resolution of faults, and the management of engineering projects. This breadth opens wide career opportunities for our graduates in both the public and private sectors.
The department was established in 1427 AH alongside the founding of the College of Engineering, and today offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs in electrical engineering. The bachelor's program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), while the master's program has been granted unconditional accreditation by the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation (NCAAA) of the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC). These accreditations reflect the department's commitment to national and international standards in learning outcomes and continuous improvement, and give our graduates professional standing recognized both locally and internationally.
Because the department's impact is not confined to the classroom, we place particular emphasis on applied research and on involving our students in it, on expanding our partnerships with industry and research institutions, and on directing our research output toward emerging technologies and their localization. This is reflected in the department's research initiatives and specialized laboratories, and in our ongoing efforts to develop new programs and courses that keep pace with rapid technological change.
As I encourage our students to make the most of the opportunities the department offers for learning, research, and innovation, I welcome engagement from colleagues in academia, industry, and the research community in service of our shared goals.
